Pajarito
Pajarito
I find myself doubting my abilities
Finding I can no longer write with ease
My love for writing in itself thwarted by trauma
From abuse and my ex’s drama
I once wrote everyday, bits and pieces
Like warm winter fleeces
Covering me with soliloquies
My abuser took away my written and spoken word
What spanish I had left, ripped from my tongue
Wishing I was the pajarito, the little free bird
I listened to her music that she had sung
I am free now but struggle with it all
Did my mind continue to spiral and fall
I cannot tell you for sure if I will return
I do know that I will eventually flourish
And not burn
